About us

In March 1994, two “magicians” with a very special reputation in the world of games − Kathi Kappler and Johann Rüttinger − founded the publishing company DREI MAGIER SPIELE in an old mill in the Franconian Uehlfeld and “enchanted” the branch with many good ideas. Rolf Vogt joined them, quasi as the third “magician”. From then on, his magic illustrations, cover pictures and graphic concepts characterized the small but prestigious company. We know this publishing house particularly as one of the most important suppliers of high-quality children’s games.

The most striking examples of their competence in this genre were “Children’s game of the year 2004” (“Spooky Stairs”) and the game played in the dark “Magicians’ Night” which received the 2006 “German Games’ Award” in the category “Best children’s game”.

Since 2003, there has been a close distribution cooperation between the creative small publishing house and Schmidt Spiele that has been intensified step by step during the last years. Schmidt Spiele ranks among the game publishing companies richest in tradition in Germany. On 1 July 2008, Schmidt Spiele took over the rights to the premium trademark “Drei Magier” as well as to the games that have been published under this label to date.

In this way, Schmidt Spiele guarantees the continuation of a quality brand that has provided new ideas and impetus time and time again. The recent “Mouse Carousel” with coloured wooden mice hiding in small barrels, the tactical memory game “Serendipity” that is great fun for adults as well or the brain- and tongue-twister “Cockroach Salad” serve as examples. Things shall remain this way! Unmistakeable, especially as the third “magician” − Rolf Vogt − will continue to provide his magic illustrations for Drei Magier.

One year after the Drei Magier brand was taken over by Schmidt Spiele, "The Magic Labyrinth" wins the award children game of the year 2009. The game author Dirk Baumann invites the players into a world of secret ways and hidden tunnels. This extraordinary game offers a lot of fun and suprising moments.
